Co-parenting & shared care
Track which nights each child stays with each parent. Generate a co-parent-approved Care Arrangement Record PDF for Services Australia, family law mediation, or your own records. Step-parents get a separate dual-approval workflow so kids' information doesn't get over-shared.
NightTally
Quick nightly entry of where each child slept
Care band calculation
Automatic Services Australia band mapping
Bilateral approval
Both parents must agree before a record is final
PDF generation
Date-stamped, both signatures, ready for Centrelink or mediation
Co-parent linking
Parallel households — only NightTally and care records cross over
Step-parent dual approval
Separate consent layer for blended families
When a household — or two households sharing care — aligns around visible, predictable routines, the effects compound.
Less stress for kids moving between homes
Children carry a hidden cognitive load when they move between two homes that operate differently — different rules, different bedtimes, different expectations. Consistent, visible routines across both homes reduce that load. Research on shared-care arrangements shows the benefit comes from coparenting consistency, not the time itself (Steinbach 2024).
Less anxiety for neurodivergent kids
Predictability is one of the strongest supports for children with autism and ADHD. When a child can check the chart and see what comes next, they spend less internal energy on the meta-task of remembering, and less time anxious about transitions. Visual schedules are an established evidence-based practice (Hume et al. 2021).
Better functioning when kids can rely on their schedule
When the chart holds the structure, children's executive function is freed for the task itself, not the meta-task of remembering what to do. Systematic reviews show improvements in on-task behaviour, transitions, independence, and academic engagement (Wong et al. 2015; Knight et al. 2015).
A stronger family unit
Coordination work distributed across the household, not carried by one parent. Reduced cognitive load on the primary carer. Reduced ambiguity for the secondary carer. Reduced uncertainty for the child. Calmer carers. Calmer kids. The loop sustains itself.
Designed around the family structures that other apps ignore.
Shift-working parents
FIFO, healthcare, emergency services, transport. Coordinate the household when you're away.
Separated co-parents
50/50, 70/30, weekday/weekend. Track care percentages and generate records you can both agree on.
Blended families
Step-parents with structured access. Kids' privacy respected across two homes.
Parents of neurodivergent kids
Autism, ADHD, anxiety. Explicit, atomic, repeatable routines that work.
Sandwich generation
Caring for kids and elderly parents at the same time. One chart for everyone.
Grandparent carers
Whether full-time or just school holidays. See what kids' routines look like.
If you're a self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participant, The Family Chart may be eligible as Low-Cost Assistive Technology for daily living. Cost falls within the under-$1,500/year category. Speak with your support coordinator, OT, or plan manager to confirm — every plan is different.
The Family Chart is not NDIS-funded or NDIS-approved. Eligibility is your decision and your plan manager's. We can provide an OT and plan manager information pack on request.
Every module connects. No switching between apps or group chats.
